Above: Shannon Ketron in 1982

Shannon Patrick Ketron

Last seen in Cordell, Oklahoma on June 17, 1982

Vital statistics: White male. Born on November 10, 1981. Blond hair, blue eyes. Some agencies give his date of birth as November 12, 1979. Was seven months at the time.

Circumstances: Shannon was last seen on June 17, 1982 in Cordell, Oklahoma. He was last seen by his mother, Ann Ketron, as she drove with him between Buffalo and Cordell, Oklahoma. They were driving in Ann’s silver 1978 Pontiac on a dirt road located on the side of Route 183 when Ann stayed she stopped to retrieve something. She stated that while she was out of her car, an unidentified male driving a late model green GMC Truck came up along them and asked Ann if everything was okay. Ann responded by saying that she did not need any assistance. The man then stated that Ann looked like his ex wife and he proceeded to knock her out. When Ann woke up, she discovered that Shannon was gone and a green duffel bag that had baby supplies in it was also missing. Authorities believe this unknown man abducted Ketron. The man is described as standing at 5’10” and weighing 175 pounds. He also had a dark complexion. He has not been heard from since his abduction. His mother took a polygraph regarding his case but the results were never released. Classified as a Non-Family Abduction.

Theories: It’s presumed that Ketron was abducted that day but his kidnapper remains unidentified and his case remains cold. Many children as young as less than one month have been abducted and most of these types of cases occurred in the 1980's, Shannon’s was definitely under publicized in the initial years of his disappearance becoming known. It’s pretty obvious based off of the circumstances that Shannon was taken. I can’t think of any reason for the child to be dead and it’s definitely possible that Shannon is still alive today and unaware of his true identity or status as a missing child. I’m hoping to see an age enhanced photo of Shannon made soon in the hopes that maybe it will help someone or even himself recognize him as an adult.
