Vital statistics: White female. Born on February 3, 1990. Brown hair, black eyes. She has a large strawberry birthmark on her right forearm. Was two at the time.

Circumstances: On November 3rd, 1992, Mohamad Hisham Dabbagh picked up his two-year-old daughter, Nadia Dabbagh, for an extended visit. The child and her mother, Dabbagh's divorced wife, were living in Medina, Ohio. Dabbagh was permitted to take the child to Florida on the condition that she be returned to the mother's custody by December 1st. Dabbagh did not return the child to her mother. Instead, he abducted her to Saudi Arabia. He later took the child to Syria, where he left her with members of the Muslim Brotherhood. U.S. authorities issued warrants for Dabbagh's arrest for child abduction. Dabbagh is also wanted by Syrian authorities on charges of kidnapping and other offenses. Syrian authorities have issued an order granting custody of the child to her mother. Nadia was last known to be living with her paternal grandmother, her aunt, and her uncle in Damascus, Syria. Maureen Dabbagh has been very vocal and active in her effort to have Nadia returned to her. She has even gone on a hunger strike, which lasted 36 days to attempt to force US officials to act. She has since founded the organization PARENT for the left-behind parents of children abducted out of the US. Her father met with US officials in 2004 and described her as a typical teenager. Maureen is still petitioning for her return to the United States. She was involved in one recovery effort for a child abducted to the Middle East, although she was not successful in seeing her daughter. She says Mohammad abused both her and Nadia during her marriage and threatened to abduct her daughter before he actually did so. The courts disregarded this information and awarded him unsupervised visitation.
