Marina Tiffany Kaneda

Last seen in Honolulu, Hawaii on May 21, 2004

Vital statistics: Asian (Japanese) female. Born on July 20, 1999. Black hair, brown eyes. Her nickname is "Mari-Chan." She has beauty marks under her right eye and on her right cheek. She speaks English and Japanese. Was four at the time.

NCIC number: M-564291472

Circumstances: She was abducted by her non-custodial mother, Chiharu Mori Wakao. A photo and vital statistics are posted below. Her parents shared joint custody of her following their divorce in 2003; her father Alan Kaneda got to see the child for three or four days every week. On May 21, 2004, he came to get his daughter as scheduled and she was nowhere to be found. There are warrants out for her arrest for custodial interference and child abduction, and the FBI and Hawaii U. S. attorney's office issued a warrant for international parental kidnapping for her in May 2005. Interpol notices have been issued for both of them. She took Marina to her native Japan after the abduction and has refused to come back; she claims she was forced to do it because she believed Alan was abusing Marina. Alan denies this and there is no evidence to support her claims. They are believed to still be in Japan. Alan is taking legal action to get his daughter back but thus far has been unsuccessful. He is still fighting for full legal and physical custody of Marina in Hawaiian courts.
