Jessica was supposed to spend alternating two month periods with her father in Nevada and her mother in Mexico, but she was not returned from Mexico after one two month period. Previously, her father's family had asked for the mother to not be awarded custody because she had a seizure disorder and was not supposed to be left alone at any time. A Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution was issued for her on May 24, 2005. They are believed to be in Mexico. Jessica's father says they may be in the Pueblo area with family, but Mexican authorities have said they could not find her there.
