She took the children to Argentina on what was supposed to be a two week visit to see family, but she never returned them. Their parents have since filed for divorce. She attended custody hearings in the United States and their father, Pablo Christian Gallo was later granted custody of them. A felony warrant for custodial interference was issued for her on June 8, 2009. Argentinan courts have ordered the return of the children and have denied Hyland's request for an appeal, but they have not been brought back to the United States.
