Deborah Rae Meyer
Last seen in Rawlings, Wyoming on August 4, 1974
Vital statistics: White female. Born on October 20, 1958. Brown hair, brown eyes. She wears full dentures and has a small round growth on her left ear. Was fourteen at the time.
Circumstances: She was last seen leaving a relative's home to go to a local movie theater. She is from Red Lodge, Montana, but was visiting relatives with her family at the time. Three other women vanished from the local area around the same time; two were eventually found murdered, and one has never been located. Classified as a Non-Family Abduction.
Theories: Itís to my belief that Deborah was murdered along with three other females in the Rawlins area during a seven week period. On July 4th 1974, two 19 year old females named Carlene Brown and Christy gross went missing while at the carbon county rodeo. The car they were traveling in was found over 200 miles away in Worland, Wyoming. Christys skeletal remains were found by two siblings who were testing out a pickup truck in a rural area located 3 miles south of Sinclair, Wyoming on October 27th 1983. She was murdered and died from two blows to her skull. Her murder remains unsolved and her companion, Carlene Brown, has never been located. Sheís believed to have been killed along with Christy. On August 23rd 1974, 10 year old Jayleen Dawn Banker went missing after being separated from friends while at the Rodeo. She was never seen again. Authorities immediately treated the case as suspicious in nature. Jayleenís decomposed remains were located in a field on April 24th 1975 by a man walking his dog. She was lying face down in the brush. Her cause of death was ruled a homicide. No one has been arrested in the cases and Carlene and Deborah remain missing. Several suspects have been named in the case, including Theodore Bundy aka Ted Bundy. He was eventually deemed an unlikely suspect because he was jailed at the time the girls were reportedly abducted. Here is where the most well known theory and my theory come in. Royal Russel Long, a carnival stuffed animal worker and a convicted rapist and kidnapper is the one who may have been ultimately responsible for the murders and kidnappings. He was in the Rawlins area in the summer of 1974. Royal is believed to have been responsible for the Rawlins cases as well as the Oklahoma 1981 abductions of Cinda Pallett and Charlotte Kinsey and the 1984 abduction of Sharon Baldeagle. None of these girls have been located but are presumed victims of his. Deborah is believed to have been his 3rd victim.
