Lachlan Duffley missing sixteen years

Today is the sixteenth anniversary of the disappearance of Lachlan Yukihiro Kishida Duffley. He was abducted by his non-custodial mother, Yukiko Kishida, from Potomac, Maryland. They may still be in the state of Maryland, or they may have traveled to Pennsylvania or out of the country to Japan.

Dual Japanese citizens or kids of Japanese citizens have to choose whether or not to be legally Japanese by their 22nd birthday. By use of his Japanese name, Yukihiro Kishida, Lachlan obviously chose to be Japanese. He had the option to return to the USA until about 10 years ago and didn’t, so he’s entirely Japan’s problem now. Looks like he and his mother have been quite busy living a desperate life in Japan since their departure from Maryland.
