How could the children be abducted from the United States if ,same as in the Bobo case, the mother was given permission by both an American court AND the American father, to relocate overseas? The UK refused claims the Bobo children were abducted under the terms of the Hague for the reasons stated above and Japan as an equally advanced nation has very similar residency standards. The father and American courts all agreed that the Oda/Weed children’s permanent residence would be in Japan, so why should Japanese authorities be compelled to even consider uprooting the children just because parental relations have since soured? Custody is only changed by default and a warrant issued by American courts in these cases, because the current residential parent is not properly notified overseas to appear in court. A wonderful perk of falsely claiming abduction is the formerly non-custodial parent no longer has to pay child support. Otherwise there is no sense whatsoever in devoting resources to searching for children who were never lost to begin with.

So if your ex was allowed to move to another country with your kids only on the condition they allowed you contact with your kids and they moved, cut you off, and you never saw your kids again you’d be okay with this?

If I had any doubts about my partner’s ability to parent effectively as the children’s SOLE CARER then I would have never consented for them live abroad unlike Mr.Weed and Mr.Bobo. Obviously they didn’t have any doubts about their ex wives’ abilities as mothers and believed their children would be just fine in a foreign country under this level of parental care. It’s really no different if the children ever see the United States or their fathers again since their fathers CHOSE to play a minimal at best role in their upbringing.

You do know that in the US the parent just has to prove the move will be good for the child’s well-being and the other parent’s objections are not always used, right?
