John Umich missing fourteen years

Today is the fourteenth anniversary of the disappearance of John Umich. He went missing with his siblings April and Christopher Stevens. When the family’s social worker went to their Covina, California home it was discovered the family had vacated the apartment and left no forwarding address. April and Christopher were found safe in July 2012, but John remains missing.

Has anyone thought to ask his older siblings what happened to him? From the little I managed to read about him online, he was basically an unwanted and shunned child that the world forgot, and was probably abused to death by his mother.

I don’t know. Maybe they don’t know themselves. (If their sudden move was because John was dead from abuse, they still might not know what happened to him, just that he was gone one day.)

Hang on a minute! John’s mother was never charged with any sort of child abduction, she was reportedly had a warrant issued for her on charges of Child Cruelty with possible injury and/or death as a result of abuse pertaining specifically to John. Now all of a sudden, 14 years later after disappearing with his alleged abuser and possible murderer, the now adult John has turned up alive and well. His siblings were located years ago and apparently never bothered to inform the police of John’s whereabouts or even that he was not dead, so at least no one would continue to think the worst case scenario had occured. If not for the cruelty charge then no one would have been searching for the children, since legally they were not kidnapped by their mother, yet 14 years onward the charge has magically gone away and John is fine. It makes me question if perhaps this case was misrepresented to the public by someone without all of the facts.
